Ty Camlad is a beautiful, detached, 16th century barn conversion set in three acres of Sandra & Alan’s grounds adjacent to their farmhouse, only two and a half miles from Churchstoke and three miles from Bishop’s Castle.

It is immaculately presented throughout, with a vaulted ceiling and a large gable end window, which showcases uninterrupted views of the Camlad Valley. Providing spacious, contemporary accommodation, it is ideal for a romantic retreat or the solo traveller exploring this unspoilt part of the country. The accommodation comprises one super king-size double bedroom with a luxurious en-suite with slipper bath, and a further shower room on the ground floor. There is a well-equipped kitchen, with a four oven Aga, perfect for making a lazy brunch, baking a few scones, or preparing elaborate, romantic dinners to enjoy in the dining area. In the summer months when it’s often too warm for the Aga to be lit, you can use the newly fitted convection hob and electric oven together with a microwave. Retire to the sitting area to relax and unwind or curl up in cooler months by the woodburning stove. You are welcome to recline at the table and chairs outside under the newly positioned wrought iron pergola with views across the valley, or take a stroll around the garden, where there are benches on which to sit and read or watch the world go by.
Don’t forget to bring your walking boots so you can head to the nearby hills; we nestle just outside the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty You can also travel further west to the Cambrian Mountains and onward to RSPB Ynys Hir in the UNESCO designated Dyfi Biosphere or the resorts of Cardigan Bay, such as Aberystwyth or Harlech, both with castles and wonderful coastal paths. There’s also terrific local walking if you bear north or south on Offa’s Dyke Path – always a rewarding walk, with spectacular views. The Kerry Ridgeway and the Shropshire Way are also close by. Just over the border into England lies the bustling market town of Bishop’s Castle, with a good range of pubs and independent shops, particularly the new Poetry Pharmacy and the second-hand specialists Yarborough House for music and book lovers. Montgomery, Shrewsbury and Ludlow are all within striking distance if you only want a short adventure. Why not discover the 13th century manor house of Stokesay Castle, an English Heritage property, or the National Trust Powis Castle, with justifiably famous gardens and a wonderful view, near Welshpool.
